How did you get started in the construction industry?

I started in the drafting dept for Mitchell Engineering in 1975 who was later purchased by Ceco Buildings.

What does Star Building Systems provide for their builders that set them apart from the competition?

I believe Star is one of the remaining pre-engineered companies who still deals primarily with a builder network. Relationships are still key to the success of Star.

Describe your day-to-day operations of a Star District Manager:

Grow sales volume by servicing our existing builder/customers and recruiting new companies who see the advantage of association with Star.

What is something unusual that you’ve seen in the field?

Companies I come across in my marketing-recruiting have come to accept a low level of customer service and assistance from competing manufacturers and are thrilled with what Star brings to their table.

What are the most common questions you receive from Star Builders in your region?

Why does it take so long to get building orders thru customer service, establish scheduling and mail permit drawings?

What’s the best thing about being a Star District Manager?

There are two, the first is the income potential. There are literally no limitations.  The second is the freedom & flexibility to manage the district as seems best.

What is one piece of advice you would give to Star Builders?

I constantly encourage our builders to realize the potential for growth in their companies thru a deeper involvement in the pre-engineered marketplace in their towns and cities. The other is to utilize my 30 years experience in the industry to assist them in developing a marketing strategy.

I have been blessed with close relationships with my builders and the special times we’ve shared at our National Sales Meetings.
